One of my greatest pet peeves is when otherwise great award shows slow everything down to a crawl to hand out a lifetime achievement award to some old bag of bones that hasn’t made a movie you’ve ever enjoyed. A lifetime achievement award should not be given out in honor of a lifetime of executive producing or directing “important”, “dramatic” or “moving” (in other words boring and free of gratuitous violence) films. No, a lifetime achievement award should be given out for making a career of stomping ass on screen. It just so happens that I know of one such actor who has made it a personal mission to bust heads and hand deliver ass kickings to whichever sassy back talker is in his way. Michael Biehn, a man amongst boys. This Hollywood tough guy was out stomping asses before we were wiping our own asses. He has been in some fantastic movies and has played a soldier or a cop in almost every single one of those movies. I don’t think it’s because he has been typecast however, I think it is because the man just enjoys serving up hot and fresh beat downs and chooses roles that reflect that interest. Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Navy Seals, Tombstone, Cherry Falls, The Art of War, and Planet Terror (ed. note- The Rock, you son of bitch). Did I just provide a list of movies that give me raging veiny nerd boners or a list of movies starring Michael Biehn…both. That’s a fantastic resume. Here are some more pics of Mr. Biehn in action:
